Mostly underappreciated in modern times. Elegance can be applied to both sexes, men being typically suave, gentlemanly, polite and well-spoken. Women being dignified, stylish, tasteful in appearance but most importantly, benevolent. True elegance is not spoiled nor snobbish, despite what the media may suggest. It is mannerly and in turn sets a good example of maturity, in contrast to childish, boorish behavior. Certain cultures (such as the British, French and Japanese), value elegance greatly as it links tradition with the present.
