Joy is a rich, free-spirited bohemian nomad, who encounters Don Draper, during his trip to Los Angeles in “The Jet Set.” She's introduced to Don by her father, Willie, a count from Alsace, and Don accompanies her to a palatial home in Palm Springs. Don meets Joy's entourage, who wile their days away travelling and revelling in pleasure. Joy aggressively seduces Don and the morning after they've had sex, Willie casually sits on their bed and is non-plussed that they've been together. Willie expresses his attraction to Don and Joy tells her father, in French, to leave Don alone.
