The Pillows is a Japanese rock band formed in 1989. The group has released more than a dozen studio albums, along with various EPs, singles, and compilation albums. Being in Avex Trax for almost 10 years, they moved back to King Records in 2016. They are formed by Sawao Yamanaka, as vocalist and rhythm guitarrist; Yoshiaki Manabe, as lead guitarrist; and Shinichiro Sato, as drummer. The band was formed with the bassist Kenji Ueda, who left in 1992. Although the band has since employed various bassists as support musicians, the official possition of bassist has been held in his honor.
