Thomas Metzinger

Thomas Metzinger is a German philosopher active since the 1990s in the promotion of consciousness studies as an academic endeavor. His books Being no One and The Ego Tunnel argues that self does not exist as it's only a model created by our brain in that everything we experience is a virtual self in a virtual reality and that the only self that does exist is the phenomenal self of conscious experience
